Subsidies for the renovation of homes for elderly or disabled people

Ara grants subsidies for the renovation of homes which are in permanent residential use throughout the year and at least one of the residents is over 65 years old or disabled. Household income must not exceed the established income limits and the household must not have the wealth to such an extent that it could renovate the home without the subsidy.

The maximum amount of renovation subsidy is 50 % of approved renovation costs.

The grant may exceptionally be up to 70 % if the applicant is a veteran who has served in the front line or a war widow or if the elderly or disabled person otherwise had to immediately move out of their home for good because of

  • the house or apartment is not accessible
  • the social welfare and health care services they need cannot be provided there.
